This spring/summer, I will focus my free time on strength to body weight ratio exercises. What is strength to weight ratio? Basically, exercises or movements that you can do using your own body weight. Similar to movements gymnasts use on horizontal bars or kids play on the play structures on the playground. This is a great way to switch your fitness routine up by getting out of the gym should the weather be pleasant outdoors.
When assessing movements patterns and biomechanics of individuals, having clients perform strength to weight ratio exercises is a basic process we use. A simple squat test, push up test trunk flexion test (sit up test) to just name a few. They can include ballistic movements (plyometrics) or body weight pull-ups given you have one available to you.
